Wendel Rosen’s Intellectual Property Legal Forum is a group blog produced by the Intellectual Property Practice Group attorneys at the Oakland, California law firm of Wendel Rosen LLP. In this blog we cover issues across a broad spectrum of IP issues related to:
Meet the Team
Joshua Cohen – Call me Joshua, Josh actually. I’m an IP attorney who’s played offense and defense, bringing and defending trade secret, infringement (trademark, copyright and patent), high tech product defect and a mixed bag of other IP matters. I am constantly entertained by how quickly and effectively existing legal precedents are outstripped by technological evolution and the devious minds of IP attorneys, present company included.
Katherine Kao – Hi, I’m Katherine. I’m secretly an avid TV watcher and shameless pop culture fanatic, and I try to justify these “interests” by writing about them in a legal context. Outside of my couch and the IP Legal Forum, I also enjoy yoga, camping, and spending time with the family dog (and sometimes the family people).
Richard Lyons – My name is Richard (aka “Dick”) Lyons. I’m an IP and business transactions attorney. I’ve worked with many food companies on trademarks, brand protection, licensing, financing, product R&D and other issues. Some say I get to eat my words when clients send edible gifts. I also enjoy the IP issues of software and entertainment companies. When I’m not at work, I may be playing jazz with my combo at a venue near you.
Daniel Myers – I’m Dan, an advertising attorney who spends a lot of time reviewing on-line, email, print, radio and TV ads and who helps clients make good decisions in the design and implementation of marketing, social media, promotional and pricing campaigns and strategies. When I’m not working on advertising matters, I’m negotiating, drafting and advising on leases, purchase agreements and other aspects of commercial real estate deals.
Eugene Pak – Hello, I’m Eugene Pak. Ever since I was a kid, I enjoyed building things and solving problems. Today, I help clients build and protect their IP rights, giving strategic and practical advice on trademarks, copyrights, advertising, license agreements, and privacy issues. I litigate cases too. I also serve as outside general counsel to many clients, including tech companies and craft breweries. When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and kids, attending A’s games, doing yoga, and watching My Cat From Hell or a Steelers game.
